"A cheater picking another cheater to win" - Caleb Plant lambasts Ryan Garcia over latter's prediction for upcoming Trevor McCumby fight

Caleb Plant isn't pleased with Ryan Garcia's decision to pick him to lose his upcoming fight against Trevor McCumby.

Plant is scheduled to face the undefeated McCumby on Sep.14 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This would be the former IBF super middleweight champion's first fight since losing to David Benavidez in March last year.

Garcia believes Plant is in store for disappointment in his upcoming fight. In a recent post on X, he wrote:

"Trevor McCumby will pull off the win and upset over Caleb Plant. Book it. Trust me."

Suffice it to say, 'Sweethands' was offended by the superlightweight star's prediction and clapped back at 'King Ry' and McCumby by dragging in their PED history into the conversation:

"A cheater picking another cheater to win! Imagine that!"

For context, Garcia is currently facing a one-year suspension from boxing after he tested positive for ostarine in a VADA test for his WBC super lightweight title fight against Devin Haney.

The bout, which had originally been ruled a majority decision win in Garcia's favor, has since been overturned to a no contest.

Similarly, McCumby was slammed with a nine-month suspension in 2016 after he reportedly tested positive for a banned substance in his fight against Donovan George. The bout, which was originally a first-round TKO win for the American, was turned into a no-contest after the fact.

Regardless of Garcia's opinion about the upcoming bout, Plant is expected to be McCumby's toughest test to date. Over the course of his career, 'Sweethands' has faced off against a plethora of top-tier opposition, including pugilistic legend Canelo Alvarez.

Caleb Plant gives his two cents on Ryan Garcia's boxing ban

While Ryan Garcia is now facing a one-year ban from boxing, he and his team have denied any intentional malpractice from their side. They believe that a tainted supplement is to blame for 'King Ry' testing positive for the banned substance.

Caleb Plant, however, seems unconvinced by this narrative. During a recent media interaction, the former world champion pugilist argued that Garcia and his team would have fought against the ban if they were convinced about their innocence:

"You know he's been swearing up and down that he is innocent. And if it's so easy to prove obviously one would go to court and prove that rather than cough up $1.5 million and take a one-year ban... Regardless of how much money you have, I ain't coughing up that much money, especially if I know I'm innocent...Well, he took the other route. So that says a lot."
