“A lot better than expected” - Aung La N Sang reviews his last performance against Fan Rong
Aung La N Sang reflected on his latest win against Fan Rong.
In February 2022, Aung La suffered a setback due to a unanimous decision loss against Vitaly Bigdash. The former two-division MMA world champion bounced back with first-round knockout wins against Yushin Okami and Gilberto Galvao.
'The Burmese Python' had an opportunity to continue building momentum when he was matched up against Fan Rong in May 2023 at ONE Fight Night 10.
The 29-year-old proved too much for his Chinese opponent and secured a second-round guillotine to take one step closer to a middleweight title shot.
During an interview with Cageside Press, La N Sang had this to say about his performance against Fan:
"Well, his footwork was a lot better than expected. If you watched his fights, he didn't move like that before. He didn't move like that after my fight either, you know."
The current ONE middleweight MMA world champion is three-division king Anatoly Malykhin. La N Sang hopes to challenge Malykhin in 2025, but he has business to take care of before receiving an opportunity to regain ONE gold.

Aung La N Sang plans to extend winning streak at ONE 168: Denver
On Sept. 6, ONE Championship will return to North America for ONE 168: Denver, with two world title fights ending the event.
Earlier in the night, Aung La N Sang looks for his fourth consecutive finish when he takes on Shamil Erdogan.
Erdogan made his promotional debut in June 2023. The undefeated Turkish middleweight put the division on notice with a second-round knockout against Fan Rong, leading to his upcoming matchup against 'The Burmese Python.'
Erdogan expects to run through the former two-division world champion. Meanwhile, the former plans to utilize his experience and break down his less-experienced opponent for his 16th win in the ONE Championship.
ONE 168: Denver features two title fights - Jonathan Haggerty (c) vs. Superlek (bantamweight Muay Thai) and Kade Ruotolo (c) vs. Mikey Musumeci (lightweight submission grappling). Tickets for the event can be found on Ticketmaster.
