Joe Rogan and Sean O'Malley discuss why boxing poses more danger to athletes than MMA

Joe Rogan and Sean O'Malley recently discussed why boxing is more dangerous to athletes than MMA.

The No.1-ranked UFC bantamweight contender pointed out that boxers endure unremitting sparring sessions consistently. Accumulated damage from the regularly exhausting and demanding training routine puts boxers at greater risk, according to 'Sugar.'

Speaking on episode #133 of The Joe Rogan Experience, O'Malley stated:

"I had a pro-boxing fight a while back and I went to a pro-boxing gym... You spar! Monday, Wednesday, Friday, three times a week hard. I think a lot of the damage is in sparring and then you go in there and get dropped, get back up, get an eight-count, get dropped again."

O'Malley further claimed that it's hard to see the damage some boxers take during fights:

"I think it's probably a mixture between how hard those motherf**kers spar and the accumulation of getting hit in the head. It's hard to watch."

Sean O'Malley tells Joe Rogan why he believes he's undefeated despite loss to Marlon Vera

Marlon 'Chito' Vera handed Sean O'Malley the first loss of his MMA career at UFC 252 via TKO. Despite the dent in his otherwise brilliant pro-MMA record, 'Sugar' holds the unwavering opinion that he's still undefeated.

Marlon Vera capitalized on his co-main event spot at UFC 252 by knocking out Sean O'Malley in the first round owing to an injury and a vicious ground-and-pound attack.

During a brief sequence from the fight, 'Chito' landed a strong kick on the peroneal nerve of O'Malley's lead leg that compromised his motion for the remainder of the fight. Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, O'Malley elucidated on why he believes that he's mentally undefeated:

"It was a kick he threw and I pulled out... His big toe literally pushed a button, my peroneal nerve... and my foot just fell asleep... I blitzed forward, went to step back on my foot and it wasn't there. He got on top and elbowed me. It's a loss on the record... but I didn't lose 'cause his skills were better than me. I do not believe that."
