"A lot of the sacrifices" - Nico Cornejo "thrilled" for massive fight against teen phenom Adrian Lee at ONE 168: Denver

American MMA upstart Nico Cornejo is fired up to open his promotional account against rising star Adrian Lee in a lightweight MMA matchup at ONE 168: Denver.

The Colorado native recognizes the opportunity he has on his plate and wants nothing more than a career-defining win inside Ball Arena live in American primetime on September 6.

Reflecting on the moment he first received the news about his scrap, Nico Cornejo told MMA UK:

"I was thrilled when my coach Jeff Santos called me up, and he told me the news. You know, just looking back at the past four years that I put in training, a lot of the sacrifices that I put into this."

While grappling is his strongest suit, the Carlos Machado Jiu Jitsu and Warrior Built MMA representative has extensively spent more time honing his stand-up craft to perfect his all-around arsenal.

He will be out to secure a second consecutive win when he takes to the circle in 'The Mile High City' next month.
