"A matchup for people who want to see violence" - Fans debate the outcome of potential boxing showdown between UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and KO artist Deontay Wilder

MMA fans have played matchmakers this week and reacted to a potential super fight between UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and KO artist Deontay Wilder.

Ngannou has been looking to switch to boxing for some time and added fuel to the fire when he appeared in the ring with Tyson Fury earlier this year. While that fight seems dead in the water for now, fans have instead theorized that a matchup between the two hardest hitters in their own sports could be marketed as one of the biggest fights of the decade.

The post on Reddit reads:

"Let's be honest, this is the fight to make if Ngannou goes into boxing. Less skill than Fury and can easily be marketed as who's the heaviest hitter."

MMA and boxing fans have reacted to the dream match-up, with one user suggesting this fight will only deliver one thing: violence.

"That'd be a match up for people who want to see violence."

Another fan criticized Wilder's boxing style and his ability, but still suggested the American has enough in his arsenal to get the job done over 'The Predator'.

"Wilder's 'sloppy un-technical boxing' by boxing standards, is still leagues above Francis. Wilder would put a bad hurting on him."

Chael Sonnen believes the UFC could use Jon Jones fight as way of signing new contract with Francis Ngannou

Francis Ngannou previously expressed his desire to sign a new contract with the UFC if they help co-promote his fights should he step into boxing. Dana White and the UFC brass have flat-out declined to do so with any fighter since Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Discussing the contract scenario at the top of UFC's weightclasses, Chael Sonnen believes the UFC could offer up Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou as a way to get both fighters to sign on the dotted line.

My goal, my dream is to have my first heavyweight title fight look like my first light heavyweight title fight. Pure domination

'The American Gangster' added, however, that Jones has a history of messing around with the UFC with regard to contract negotiations:

"If you have a four fight deal and you've got a history of wanting to come in after fight number two, turn the gun back on the organization, you've got a problem. How do you get around that?"

Sonnen then added his two-cents on 'Bones' to face Stipe Miocic if 'The Predator' refuses to sign a new deal:

"What else is going to come from that? There are many promoters that play checkers and they will go all-in for one night. You have other promoters that play chess and every move has to set up another move. So, if you do Jon Jones versus Stipe, what do you do next?"
