Joe Rogan and Danny Brown talk about the dark side of the rap and music industry
Joe Rogan and hip-hop star Danny Brown, whose real name is Daniel Dewan Sewell, recently discussed several topics. Their conversation transpired on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast and notably touched upon the dark side of the rap and music industry.
The 41-year-old Brown recalled that he was 30 when he first broke through as a star. The Detroit native suggested that rappers usually break through in their youth. He indicated that a struggling rapper seldom finds success at the age he did. The rapper revealed that he'd developed a bitter attitude towards the industry after having to toil for several years to make it big. Brown stated:
"A lot of people say being a rapper is dangerous because of all the killings and sh**. But I would say being a rapper is dangerous in the sense because once you do it, you can't do nothing else. It ruins you."
Brown highlighted that rappers who return to working normal jobs are often mocked. He added:
"Every time someone recognizes you [a former rapper], they're acknowledging your failure. That hurts."

JRE podcast host Joe Rogan chimed in and reassured Danny Brown that the latter would never have to go back to working a normal job again. Expressing his respect for Brown's accomplishments in the hip-hop dominion and the music industry, Rogan praised his unique personality. The UFC commentator said:
"I know what you're saying. But you can't think about like, worst-case scenario and dwell on it like that. You are a personality. And a personality can do anything it wants to do. You're a fun guy."

When Joe Rogan expressed his grief over the murder of rapper Nipsey Hussle
Back in 2019, MMA personality and UFC color commentator Joe Rogan hosted comedian Luis J. Gomez on the JRE podcast and weighed in on the murder of American rapper Nipsey Hussle (real name: Ermias Joseph Asghedom). The 33-year-old Hussle was shot and killed by Eric Holder on March 31, 2019, while the former was in the parking lot of his clothing store in Los Angeles.
In July of this year, Holder was convicted of first-degree murder. He was also found guilty of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter due to injuries he caused to two others in the shooting. Circling back to the 2019 JRE episode, Joe Rogan condemned the murder of Nipsey Hussle. Rogan paid his condolences and emphasized:
"By all accounts, this guy was loved and, you know, he just... It's just beyond f***ed. Just like that, that is still going on in this world."
