“A seal to my victory” - Phenom Shadow says upset win over Sitthichai was as decisive as it gets

Shadow Singha Mawynn proved that starting slowly isn't so bad as long as you finish strong.

The 24-year-old Thai phenom delivered in the most significant bout of his career, earning a statement-making unanimous decision win over battle-tested veteran Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 92 last Dec. 20 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

While Shadow got his kicking game early by digging into his compatriot's body, it appeared 'Killer Kid' got the better of the exchanges in round 1 using his crisp counterstriking.

However, after getting some words of wisdom from his corner, Shadow turned the tide in the final two rounds.

The Singha Mawynn product began mixing up his lethal kicks with crushing hooks and straights to wear down the eight-time Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion.

By round 3, Sitthichai started to break down from the pressure. Shadow capitalized and uncorked a torpedo-like right straight that floored the 33-year-old with under a minute left.

Sitthichai valiantly got up for the eight count but the knockdown was the cherry on top for Shadow in the judges' scorecards.

Shortly after getting his hand raised, the Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion had this to say in his ONE Friday Fights 92 post-event interviews:

"And for the second round, I think I did well. And in the third round, I got the knockdown. So that was a seal to my victory."

Shadow could be a dark horse contender in the loaded featherweight Muay Thai ranks

ONE's murderer's row of talent in the 145-pound Muay Thai ranks is truly the best in the world. Names like the undisputed champ Tawanchai PK Saenchai, Superbon, and Jo Nattawut reign supreme at the top of the food chain.

Looks like the once unheralded Shadow could soon join them after he just took out the no.3 ranked Sitthichai in dominating fashion.

With the featherweight Muay Thai crown up for grabs in the ONE 170 main event between Tawanchai and Superbon, Shadow could inch closer to contention if he can take out another top 5 opponent next.
