Adrian Lee opens up on ‘friendly banter’ with his other half while training at Prodigy Training Center: “It’s fun”

Even as one of the hardest workers in the gym, Adrian Lee still finds time to have some fun training with his partner.

The 18-year-old phenom made his successful ONE Championship debut in June, scoring an impressive second-round submission victory over Antonio Mammarella at ONE 167 in Bangkok. He'll look to go 2-0 on Friday, September 6, when he returns to the Circle for a scrap with Nico Cornejo.

Their clash will be part of a loaded ONE 168: Denver lineup when ONE Championship heads to the United States for the first time since its critically acclaimed ONE Fight Night 10 event in May 2023.

Speaking with ONE Championship ahead of his highly anticipated sophomore appearance, Lee spoke about his work in the gym and what it's like regularly training with his other half.

“We’re close," Lee said. "Yeah, I mean, we do occasionally joke around. And it’s fun that she’s also training at the gym. So you know, it’s just like friendly banter.”

After a strong showing at ONE 167, Adrian Lee will face an even tougher test when he meets a fighter who has not yet known defeat.

Making his promotional debut at ONE 168: Denver, Nico Cornejo kickstarted his career with an unbeaten run as an amateur, going 5-0-1. Since then, he's gone pro, earning back-to-back knockouts against Anthony Alvarez and Juston Campos on the Colorado regional scene.

As for Lee, the Prodigy Training Center product comes from a long line of mixed martial arts talent. Both his brother and sister—reigning two-division titleholder Christian Lee and former atomweight queen Angela Lee—are two of the most prolific finishers in ONE Championship history. But despite their own immense success, both of them believe that Adrian Lee has what it takes to be the best of them.

Will Lee secure his second-straight win on martial arts' biggest global stage, or will Nico Cornejo hand the budding superstar his first loss as a professional fighter?
