Adrian Lee says game plan against Nico Cornejo focused on countering opponent: "He has a pretty good wrestling game"

MMA upstart Adrian Lee is fired up to continue his winning ways under the ONE Championship banner, and he might have the perfect strategy to make that goal come to fruition.

The Prodigy Training Center phenom trades leather with Nico Cornejo in a lightweight MMA tussle at ONE 168: Denver, the promotion's hotly anticipated event inside Ball Arena on September 6.

Before they throw down, the 18-year-old star has done adequate homework on what his dance partner brings to the table. Though impressed by 'The Steel City Kid's' arsenal, the young gun admits it has given him some direction to where he can put extra emphasis.

In an exchange with the promotion, Adrian Lee said:

"I saw that Cornejo is a hard hitter and that he has a pretty good wrestling game, even though he doesn't have any specific wrestling accolades. Our camp will definitely be centered around countering that."

In Cornejo, the Hawaii-based martial artist will be up against a home crowd favorite, ready to make the most of his first opportunity to impress on a global martial arts platform. The 34-year-old debuts off two impressive finishes in his career.

However, Lee seems confident that he'll have no issues grinding a victory over his opposite number if his game plan is executed to perfection at ONE 168: Denver on September 6.

Nico Cornejo believes his experience will give him an edge over Adrian Lee

Almost 18 years his foe's senior, Cornejo says he'd be banking on his experience to take out Adrian Lee's world-class skill set inside the Mile High City.

The Carlos Machado Jiu Jitsu and Warrior Built MMA product had this to say on an appearance on MMA UK:

"Adrian Lee, he's very young, you know. He's only 18, I'll be 35 in two weeks. I have a kid two years younger than him. So I'm definitely going to be testing the age gap there for sure."
