Adriano Moraes ecstatic for chance to compete in the U.S. against Demetrious Johnson
Former ONE flyweight world champion Adriano Moraes is over the moon about taking part in ONE Championship’s very first major event on U.S. soil in 2023.
The Brazilian flyweight is booked to headline ONE on Prime Video 10 in an attempt to reclaim his belt against multiple-time world champion ‘Mighty Mouse’ Demetrious Johnson.
After much speculation, the event will take precedence for the first time in Broomfield, Colorado, on Friday, May 5 which will continue to be broadcast live and for free for North American audiences with a Prime Video subscription.
Grateful to be headlining another historic card for American audiences for the third time in his career - the first being ONE on TNT I in April 2021 and the second, ONE on Prime Video 1 last August, ‘Mikhinho’ proudly told ONE Championship:
“I was very happy with this news that the ONE Championship will be holding its first event in the United States. And I’m also very happy because I’m going to fight for the first time in the United States. ONE certainly deserves all the best, as they work hard for the growth of the sport. And I’m very excited and happy about it.”
In one of the most anticipated trilogy bouts of 2023, Adriano Moraes potentially has one more chance to convince sports fans in the US why he’s the top flyweight in the world.
In their first encounter back in April 2021, ‘Mikinho’ became the first man ever to knock out ‘Mighty Mouse’ with a brutal knee to the head. The roaring upset sent shockwaves across the MMA community and as a consequence, put ONE Championship immediately on the map.
While Adriano Moraes surrendered his belt last August to Johnson via fourth-round KO, a trilogy matchup is warranted to finally settle the rivalry between two of the world’s greatest flyweights today.
US Twitter fans stoked to get their hands on tickets to watch trilogy war between Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson
US sports fans are so stoked to see how the trilogy ends between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes that they’re wondering how they’re going to get their hands on tickets.
One fan said:
“Alright going to have to see if if can go to this. Might have to keep an eye on ticket prices.”
Another fan added:
“Do I even wanna know how expensive tickets will be?”
US fans have every reason to be worried about ticket sales, after all, it will be the first time the Asian-based organization premiers on US soil.
With borders opening globally, ONE Championship will look to put on more events around the world, and it’s only possible to surmise ticket sales in the US will be a hot commodity and therefore difficult to come by.
However, as ONE Championship previously addressed, they intend to host many more events in the United States. So if you can’t grab your tickets for the trilogy fight in May, there will be plenty of opportunities to see another live event in the future.
