Adriano Moraes reveals he was not 100 percent in second fight with Demetrious Johnson

At ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, Adriano Moraes will get his opportunity for sweet revenge against Demetrious Johnson.

After becoming the first man to knock ‘Mighty Mouse’ out in their first fight, Johnson returned the favor with a spectacular flying knee to become the ONE flyweight world champion last August.

On May 5 in Broomfield, Colorado, Adriano Moraes will have the chance to win back the flyweight belt and, more importantly, close out an iconic trilogy with one of the greatest of all time by having his hand raised once again.

In an interview with SCMP MMA, Moraes has been reflecting on their second fight and some of the things that went wrong for him, which he can try to put right ahead of their trilogy matchup.

One aspect of the fight that the former champ believes played a part in him losing the contest was his weight cut. Moraes said:

“Unfortunately, for my first time ever I missed my hydration test for the first time. When I came back to make the weight and didn't lose my world title on the scale, I gave my best one day before. I got my body really exhausted. When I think of the fight, in the championship rounds, I felt it a little bit. Demetrious Johnson just enjoyed this opportunity very well.”

Many fans and fighters believe this fight will be even closer than their two previous meetings. That means if Moraes is going to end the trilogy as the victor, he may need to dig deep in the championship rounds.
