Adriano Moraes shares thoughts on knockout loss to Demetrious Johnson
Adriano Moraes has opened up about losing the ONE flyweight world championship to Demetrious Johnson.
‘Mikinho’ had another breakout moment when he beat Johnson for the flyweight strap in April 2021. After successfully defending the title once, Moraes fought ‘Mighty Mouse’ again. The 12x UFC champion avenged his loss and ended the Brazilian’s reign in the division.
During an interview with ONE Championship, Moraes reflected on the loss by saying:
“It was a big loss for my career. I learned a lot from that defeat. Especially because sharing the cage with one of the best fighters in the world is always a great learning experience. I always like to say that we earn a lot and learn a lot. So, my biggest lesson is that no matter how much we get beaten up inside the cage, life will definitely hit harder. So, we always have to be prepared.”
Johnson and Moraes now each have one win against the other. The score will be settled in the main event of ONE’s U.S. debut. ONE on Prime Video 10 goes down on May 5 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

Since their first event in 2011, ONE Championship has been to multiple countries but has never been to the United States. ONE on Prime Video 10 will thus be a historic first for the Asian promotion. During an interview with ONE, Adriano Moraes had this to say about the expansion:
“Undoubtedly, it is a very important moment for the company. The company has always dreamed of holding an event on the other side of the world and closing major partnerships. I believe this moment has arrived. It’s a dream that will come true, and it will give fighters many opportunities.”
At 34, Moraes holds a promotional record of 11-4. The 8x ONE flyweight champion has a career-defining moment at ONE on Prime Video 10. With a win against Demetrious Johnson, ‘Mikinho’ could emerge as one of the greatest fighters in ONE history.
