Aleksandar Rakic wants another crack at former UFC light heavyweight champion

Aleksandar Rakic is confident in his chances of beating Jan Blachowicz in a rematch.

Rakic fought Blachowicz in the main event of UFC on ESPN 36 in May. Unfortunately, the bout came to an abrupt end in the third round when Rakic injured his knee and was unable to continue.

The record books will show Rakic losing to Blachowicz, but the light heavyweight contender believes he is undoubtedly the better fighter. With that in mind, all Rakic wants is an opportunity to prove that.

'Rocket' recently called out the former UFC light heavyweight champion during an interview with James Lynch for LowKick MMA:

"I was waiting when he canceled the first time when he had an injury... So, of course, he has a fight now against [Magomed] Ankalaev, but I would love to fight him and I know that I can beat him. And I know that he knows that I can beat him because he felt it and I think he was the happiest man alive when my knee popped and I fell down."

However, Rakic will have to wait a little longer if he wants to run it back with 'The Legendary Polish Power.' Blachowicz is set to face fellow top contender Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 282 in December.

Aleksandar Rakic hopes Jan Blachowicz reclaims UFC light heavyweight belt

There's no fight Aleksandar Rakic wants more than a Jan Blachowicz rematch.

However, the Pole doesn't appear to feel the same. According to the 39-year-old, his goal is to reclaim the UFC light heavyweight title, which means a Rakic rematch is far from his priorities.

Then again, Rakic isn't necessarily opposed to that idea. As far as the Serbian-born Austrian is concerned, fighting Blachowicz for the belt would be his dream scenario.

In an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, this is what 'Rocket' had to say:

"That would be my dream, because I felt him – he did a good job, he’s a great fighter... He caught me with some good calf kicks, I caught him too, I cut his eye with one jab, it was a great fight... I believe I’m the better man but I still need to prove it to the world and to him as well because of course he believes he’s the better man, and we can only find that out if we can fight again."
