Alex Pereira asked to stop running away by Magomed Ankalaev following the latter's win at UFC 308

Magomed Ankalaev sounded off on Alex Pereira following his unanimous decision win over Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 308. It was a significant win for Ankalaev, as it all but confirms him as the next challenger for the Brazilian's light heavyweight championship.

Ankalaev showcased his resilience and willingness to keep the fight standing as he and Rakic's bout was primarily contested on the feet. There has been an ongoing misconception that he is a wrestler and would look to take Pereira down, but he proved comfortable competing in a striking battle. Ankalaev gained confidence and momentum with his success, which was on display as he had his opponent moving backward for the majority of their exchanges.

Following his win over Rakic, the No.1 ranked light heavyweight called out 'Poatan' and asked him to stop ducking him. Ankalaev mentioned that he believes he is the most deserving contender based on his performances and challenged Pereira to accept a fight with him:

"I think I've done everything to deserve the next title shot. I'd like to talk to Alex [Pereira]. I'd like to tell him, 'Hey, stop running away from me. We should fight, that's what everybody wants to see.'... Alex, stop running away from me."
