Alex Pereira drops heartfelt message for Dana White, hints at taking time off while reacting to UFC 307 win: "End of a cycle"
Alex Pereira was able to retain his light heavyweight title at UFC 307 as he defeated Khalil Rountree Jr. via fourth-round TKO. It marked his third title defense in 2024, the most of any champion this year, as he established himself as one of the biggest stars in the promotion.
'Poatan' took to Instagram the day after the bout to thank fans while hinting that he will take some time away from the octagon, stating:
"Thank you so much for all the support from my fans last night, all that love just makes me always train hard and perform my best to always bring a show for all of you, this year I did 3 fights and ended with 3 wins, with the end of my last fight I feel that was somehow the end of a cycle, the talk and love that @danawhite show to me and my team after my fight makes me excited to the future will bring for me in the @ufc"

Pereira has defended the light heavyweight title thrice in 2024, spectacularly finishing each opponent. He has quickly become one of the biggest stars in the promotion due to his elite level striking and ability to finish opponents on the feet.
'Poatan' will likely fight the winner of this month's bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Aleksandar Rakic when he returns to the octagon.
Khalil Rountree Jr. praises Alex Pereira in post-UFC 307 statement
Khalil Rountree Jr. also released a statement following his UFC 307 loss to Alex Pereira. 'The War Horse' took to Instagram to praise his opponent, stating:
"I didn’t win the title but I grew last night. @alexpoatanpereira thanks for helping me see that I’m ready to take on the world. You showed amazing skill, you brought out a version of me that I needed to experience. You’re the champ for a reason, much respect. But I now know what I am capable of. #saltlakecity you guys were amazing and gave me such a memorable experience. I appreciate all of the positive messages from everyone around the world."
