Alex Pereira makes feelings clear on choosing between Israel Adesanya trilogy or Jon Jones: "That's probably my best scenario"
Alex Pereira recently made his feelings known on whether he would choose to pursue if offered an opportunity to either fight Israel Adesanya in a trilogy or Jon Jones. The Brazilian's star power continues to grow, especially following his performances that earned him Fighter of the Year in 2024.
'Poatan' has remained ambitious with his goals as he has already become a two-division UFC champion and has expressed interest in moving up to heavyweight. Despite his ambitions, Pereira is in a position where he has two lucrative options in that he is tied 1-1 with his former kickboxing rival in MMA, but can also make history should he move up to heavyweight and become a three-division champion.
During his latest appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, 'Poatan' responded when host Ariel Helwani asked who he would prefer if he could choose between Adesanya or Jones. Pereira was quick to respond that moving up to fight Jones at heavyweight would be more appealing because of both the opportunity and challenge it would pose to him:
"[I'd pick] Jon Jones...Because I already fought Israel [Adesanya] four times and talk about Jon Jones, a new challenge and he's the champ."

Is Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira realistic?
Although Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira may appear unlikely to transpire due to their respective schedule at the moment, a bout between them is very much realistic.
Pereira is scheduled to defend his light heavyweight championship against Magomed Ankalaev, while Jones will reportedly defend his heavyweight championship against Tom Aspinall.
UFC CEO Dana White has already said after 'Bones' initially expressed interest, he could change his stance and book it, should he retain against Aspinall and still express strong interest in fighting 'Poatan'. Based on White's comments and both their respective title defenses, a bout between Jones and Pereira could be the most lucrative for the promotion should they successfully retain.
