Alex Pereira's latest Instagram story might leave Magomed Ankalaev fuming as 'Poatan' teases BMF title fight with Jon Jones

It seems that Alex Pereira is more than happy to entertain Jon Jones' proposal for a 'BMF' title fight. The UFC light heavyweight kingpin recently took to Instagram, where he shared a picture of promotional CEO Dana White holding the 'BMF' belt and tagged both White and Jones.

To further add to the speculation, he appeared to tease the community by calling on the powers that be to make the fans wait.

Whether the matchup will come to fruition remains to be seen. However, the idea of the fight will likely upset Magomed Ankalaev, who is expected to be the next light heavyweight title challenger:

Ankalaev has been campaigning for a light heavyweight title shot for some time, belittling Pereira at every turn and even accusing the champion of avoiding him. Curiously, this rhetoric is similar to the one surrounding Jones and his own challenger at heavyweight, interim champion Tom Aspinall.

Much like Ankalaev, Aspinall is unlikely to be pleased by the turning wheels of the Jones vs. Pereira 'BMF' title fight proposal. After all, Aspinall desperately wants to fight Jones, who conversely wants absolutely nothing to do with the Englishman, having offered a litany of excuses as to why he won't fight him.

Aspinall will have to settle with the reality that he might never fight Jones. Ankalaev, however, is unlikely to accept the same regarding Pereira, whom he has been chasing for a while now. While both Pereira and Jones seem interested, there's still no official word from the UFC on the matter.

Jon Jones has been open to fighting Alex Pereira for a while now

When he was still without a fight booked for his first heavyweight title defense, Jon Jones was going back-and-forth with fans on X. He still is.

During one of these instances, he brought up Alex Pereira as a worthier foe compared to Tom Aspinall:

"If Alex P became champion of the heavyweight division, would you guys consider him the GOAT? Being back in the gym got me thinking differently. That fight after Stipe may be the next biggest move I could possibly make."

Given Pereira's ambitions of conquering a third division, a bout with Jones could be one of the ways going forward.
