Alex Pereira's post-win octagon interview at UFC 307 makes Conor McGregor yell at the TV screen
Conor McGregor was impressed with Alex Pereira and Khalil Rountree Jr.'s UFC 307 battle. The pair contested in a five-round battle as Pereira attempted his third light heavyweight title defense.
After overcoming the adversity early on, Pereira systematically broke Rountree Jr. down and chased him with an avalanche of punches until the referee stepped in to stop the contest in Round 4.
McGregor took to X and posted a video of Pereira's octagon interview playing on TV. The event took place in Salt Lake City where most of the attendees were American.
In the now-deleted video, the Irishman made up for the lack of Brazilians by chanting Pereira's catchphrase 'Chama' and yelling from behind the camera:
"Not many Brazilians in the crowd here knowing much here. 'CHAMA! CHAMA!' Great fight! Absolutely tremendous bout."
Reacting to the fight recap where Pereira dodged the punches coming from Rountree Jr. and countered with his own, McGregor said:
"They're lean-backs, yeah? No feet, the feet aren't going back there. He's not even stepping back, it's a lean-back. You're still right in front of him, boom! Rountree Jr. is as tough... A lot of weapons. He couldn't let them go over there... The inside low kicks, the outside low kicks. That was a tremendous bout, yeah! Incredible."
In recent months, there have been talks of Pereira moving up and challenging Jon Jones or Tom Aspinall for the heavyweight title. Additionally, the Brazilian has been going back and forth with middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis on social media.
When UFC color commentator Joe Rogan asked Pereira about his future move, McGregor urged:
"Heavyweight... You call for heavyweight, NOW! Ah, leave it if he says drop down to middleweight. Don't lie to yourself [about going down to middleweight]. It was a heavy weight cut."

The win over Rountree Jr. was Pereira's third win in 175 days. It is now the all-time UFC record for three consecutive title defenses in the shortest duration.
