Alexander Volkanovski makes his opinion clear on Max Holloway's chances for Fighter of the Year honor: "He'll be right up there"
Alexander Volkanovski recently voiced his opinion about Max Holloway's chances of becoming Fighter of the Year. 'The Great' analyzed Holloway's performances to assume where he would stand in the race for the Fighter of the Year.
Volkanovski is going through an unruly time in his UFC career currently. The Australian picked up three losses in his last four UFC fights, which also includes his first-ever UFC defeat at UFC 284. However, he managed to get his hand raised every time in all three fights against Holloway.
However, 'Blessed' has been on a tremendous run since 2023. After ending the previous year with two victories, Holloway thrilled UFC fans with his highlight-reel finish at the UFC 300 this year.
In a recent interview with Kevin Iole, Volkanovski took note of the time for which Holloway had been one of the top contenders at featherweight. He also opined that Holloway had a healthy chance of being crowned Fighter of the Year for 2024:
"Myself and Max, two guys have been at the top of this division for so long, that's impressive. He [Holloway] will be right up there for Fighter of the Year."

When will Alexander Volkanovski return to the octagon?
Alexander Volkanovski's only fight this year at UFC 298 ended in a devastating defeat. Apart from marking his second consecutive loss, it also took away his UFC featherweight championship.
But 'The Great' is pretty hopeful about getting another shot at it. A recent YouTube video by Submission Radio showcased Volkanovski in a press meet. This is where he detailed that he was trying to get a fight on the UFC 312 card, which would possibly be another UFC featherweight title shot:
"Fighting for the title, that is what is pretty much promised to me, and February looks like the perfect date for that. I'll be facing the winner out of Ilia [Topuria] and Max [Holloway]. Quite positively, I can guarantee that."
