Alexander Volkanovski reacts to Alex Pereira listening to his walkout music
Alex Pereira will step in on relatively short-notice to take on Jiří Procházka in UFC 303's new main event. Ahead of the bout, 'Poatan' shared a clip of himself listening to Alexander Volkanovski's walkout music, 'Down Under' by Men At Work. Naturally, this drew the Australian legend's attention.
ESPN MMA shared the clip on its Instagram page, with the post consisting of Pereira listening to the song in his McLaren while in traffic. It marks one of several humorous ways in which 'Poatan' has taken social media by storm, as he has quickly become proficient in making himself 'memeable.'

This led to Volkanovski himself popping up in the post's comment section, where the former UFC featherweight kingpin expressed his amusement with a trio of laughing emojis. The context behind Pereira listening to Volkanovski's walkout music revolves around 'The Great's' willingness to take on short-notice fights.
The Australian stepped in on just 10 days notice to take on Islam Makhachev at UFC 294, where he was knocked out in round one. Thus, 'Poatan' is making a humorous comparison between him and Volkanovski, as he himself will take on Procházka with just two weeks to prepare.
However, it is also a quick turnaround for 'The Czech Samurai', as both men fought as recently as UFC 300, where they each picked up impressive wins, with 'Poatan' going viral for his post-fight celebration following his knockout of Jamahal Hill. Both men are eager for their UFC 303 rematch, which could be a legacy-defining bout.
Pereira won their prior encounter, but the stoppage was decried as early by some fans. Now, he has the chance to right that perceived wrong.
Alexander Volkanovski is good friends with Alex Pereira's greatest rival
Alexander Volkanovski is both a good friend and training partner of Israel Adesanya, who just so happens to be Alex Pereira's main combat sports rival, with the two having fought each other four times: twice in kickboxing, and twice in MMA.
Nevertheless, that hasn't impacted his relationship with Pereira. In fact, not even Volkanovski's elation with Adesanya beating Pereira at UFC 287 upset the Brazilian.

While he and Pereira aren't necessarily friends, they're friendly with each other. This is similar to how 'The Great' maintains friendships with both Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya, despite the latter two disliking each other.
