Alexander Volkanovski says Israel Adesanya will unleash something "freaky" on Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305: "He gets a crazy finish"
Alexander Volkanovski is predicting a spectacular finish for Israel Adesanya ahead of 'The Last Stylebender's' upcoming UFC 305 title fight with reigning middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis. The Australian shared his thoughts on the matchup in the latest video uploaded to his YouTube channel.
While breaking down the stylistic nature of the clash, Volkanovski acknowledged that du Plessis's awkward standup and relentless pressure pose problems for many other foes. However, he opined that Adesanya will be ready on the counter for the South African's swarming presence.
"I think he's [Israel Adesanya] expecting an awkward fighter to be putting the pressure on him and I think he's going to be ready to capitalize on that. And that's what I mean by getting a finish, I mean like you coming in and doing all this sort of stuff and him just doing his freaky sort of stuff, leaning back, boom, boom sort of stuff. Sort of like a Rob[ert] Whittaker type of finish."
Thus, Volkanovski expects a knockout on Adesanya's behalf, even foreseeing a stoppage similar to 'The Last Stylebender's' TKO of Robert Whittaker in the pair's first encounter. Volkanovski expressed astonishment over Adesanya's ability to generate power in his punches while pulling back at the waist.
"You shouldn't be in positions like this and knocking people out. That's just how good Izzy is, and I think that guy turns up UFC 305 main event. I think Israel Adesanya is going to put on that type of performance, where he goes out and gets a crazy finish, and that's saying something because Dricus is no joke."

The matchup between Adesanya and du Plessis is one defined by a deeply personal feud that has overshadowed the fact that it is the South African's first title defense, as well as Adesanya's chance to become the UFC's first-ever three-time middleweight champion.
Alexander Volkanovski isn't the only 'Alex' in the UFC predicting an Israel Adesanya win at UFC 305
While Alexander Volkanovski may have a slight bias for Israel Adesanya given their friendship and training history, one of 'The Last Stylebender's' greatest rivals also picked him to win at UFC 305: Alex Pereira.
On a UFC 303 media day interview, 'Poatan' revealed that he simply couldn't see Adesanya losing to du Plessis. He stated:
"I don't have much to say, sometimes I make a lot of mistakes when giving my opinions on fights, which is why I don't like doing it, but I honestly don't see Adesanya losing."
