Alexis Nicolas and Regian Eersel to run it back for lightweight kickboxing crown in ONE Fight Night 25 main event
Alexis Nicolas will tango alongside Regian Eersel in a ONE lightweight kickboxing world title rematch in the main event of ONE Fight Night 25 on Friday, October 4.
The Frenchman shocked the world when he dethroned the Surinamese striker this past April, dropping him once and cutting out his attacks to secure the unanimous decision and the coveted 26 pounds of gold.
While Alexis Nicolas did get his hand raised, some, including Eersel, believed the Frenchman didn't do enough to earn the nod from all the judges at ringside. However, the Sityodtong Amsterdam fighter will have his chance to gain redemption and bounce back to winning ways inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Before that defeat, the ONE lightweight Muay Thai world champion enjoyed a 22-match win streak. Under the ONE spotlight, the Dutch-based warrior was a perfect 10-0 across Muay Thai and kickboxing.
With a chance to set the record straight and acquire two-sport glory inside the 'Mecca of Muay Thai', fans can expect him to be at his very best on fight night.
Alexis Nicolas will look to prevent that from happening, though.
The Mahmoudi Gym fighter has been as good as it gets across his two appearances on the global stage. Plus, based on his assertive display against Eersel at ONE Fight Night 21, the ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion's style could be the kryptonite that could spell danger for Eersel once more.
Denice Zamboanga-Alyona Rassohyna joins Alexis Nicolas-Regian Eersel at ONE Fight Night 25
Apart from the hotly anticipated world title showdown between Alexis Nicolas and Eersel, the bill will play host to a ONE interim atomweight MMA world title matchup between Denice Zamboanga and Alyona Rassohyna.
'The Menace' was, unfortunately, handed another cruel blow in her world title bid on the global stage at ONE 167 this past June when Stamp pulled out from their dance for gold just weeks out from their five-round tilt. She had no issues seeing off late replacement Noelle Grandjean via unanimous decision.
Now, with another chance to accomplish her dream of hoisting ONE gold, the Filipina athlete is fired up to become her nation's first female MMA world champion.
Looking to spoil her ambitions is No.4-ranked Rassohyna. The Ukraine fighter knows a win will allow her to complete the first trilogy of her career against Stamp, and she'll be more than ready to steer her way to victory on the card.
More exciting fights will be announced in the coming weeks.
North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch the entire ONE Fight Night 25 card live in U.S. primetime for free on Friday, October 4.
