Alexis Nicolas says beating Regian Eersel a second time will prove he is the best fighter: “That’s the plan”

Alexis Nicolas is looking at his upcoming match with Regian Eersel as not only a title defense, but also an opportunity to further shore up his push to prove that he is among the best fighters in ONE Championship. The reigning ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion said so ahead of his title rematch against former divisional king Eersel at ONE Fight Night 25 on Oct. 4 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Nicolas told the South China Morning Post in an interview:

"Yes, that's the plan, just to be the best fighter in the world in the best organization in the world. That was the plan since the start."

Alexis Nicolas ascended to the top of the ONE lightweight kickboxing division by defeating 'The Immortal' in their first title encounter back in April, winning by unanimous decision.

The 26-year-old Mahmoudi Gym standout came in with a formidable game plan and ultimately outpointed Eersel en route to the convincing victory. It is something he hopes to replicate in their rematch.

ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II will aire live and for free to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Alexis Nicolas seeks KO finish of Regian Eersel at ONE Fight Night 25

Following a decision victory over Regian Eersel in their first encounter, Alexis Nicolas said that he is seeking for a more explosive win by way of knockout in their scheduled title rematch at ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs Eersel II on Oct. 4.

He made his plans known in an interview with ONE Championship, laying down that this time around he seeks to eradicate any doubts as to who the better fighter is.

Nicolas said:

"For the next fight, I'm going to show I'm a very powerful fighter -- and I can do everything. So, a lot of crazy punches, crazy, crazy footwork. But I will score a KO in the next fight for sure."
