Alexis Nicolas says Regian Eersel isn’t the only one who’s leveled up ahead of ONE Fight Night 25 redo: “It’s the same for me”
Alexis Nicolas expects Regian Eersel to be in the best shape of his life going into Friday's highly anticipated rematch—and so will Nicolas.
In April, 'Barboza' delivered a brilliant five-rounder performance against Eersel to shock the world and claim the ONE lightweight kickboxing world championship. Now, Nicolas is tasked with defending his title for the first time as the two world-class strikers collide in the ONE Fight Night 25 main event this Friday night, Oct. 4.
While Nicolas is determined to prove that his win over Eersel wasn't a fluke, 'The Immortal' will undoubtedly be coming in hot and ready to reclaim the gold he feels he never should have lost.
Speaking with ONE Championship ahead of their sequel scrap, Nicolas said he believes Eersel will step into the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok in tip-top shape. Of course, so will Nicolas, ensuring that fight fans in The Land of Smiles and those watching around the world will be treated to another barnburner.
Nicolas said:
“Of course, Regian Eersel will be in the best shape ever. But it’s the same for me, and it will be a crazy fight.”
Regian Eersel is ready to fix the mistakes he made against Alexis Nicolas the first time around
Before the loss against Alexis Nicolas at ONE Fight Night 21, Regian Eersel was sitting on an incredible 22-fight win streak that went back eight years.
Coming up short against the Paris native was an understandably hard pill to swallow for the Surinamese sensation, but Eersel recognized that he had to own the mistakes he made that night to both better himself and give him the best possible opportunity to one day reclaim the ONE lightweight kickboxing crown.
"I had to look at my mistakes." Eersel told ONE. "As I said, how do you say critics who say that I criticized myself, you know, and I'm like that. You know, if I make a mistake somewhere, I have to, I want to rewatch it and see what my mistakes are. And, yeah, find the solution, you know? So, yeah, I immediately did it."
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live via Amazon Prime Video in the United States and Canada on Friday, October 4 in U.S. primetime.
