Alexis Nicolas vows to bring ‘a more seasoned’ version of himself into Regian Eersel rematch at ONE Fight Night 25
ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion Alexis Nicolas promises to deliver an even better version of himself on Oct. 4.
Six months removed from his shocking upset against ex-titleholder Regian Eersel at ONE Fight Night 21, 'Barboza' is ready to run it back inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Nicolas vs. Eersel II will headline ONE Championship's loaded ONE Fright Fights 25 card that will also feature the return of top stars including Danial Williams, Bokang Masunyane, Jihin Radzuan, and Kongthoranee Sor Sommai.
Speaking with Phuket Fight Club ahead of his first ONE world title defense, Nicolas revealed that fans will see a much more well-rounded and confident version of himself than the one who stepped inside the ring with Eersel in April:
"For the next bout, you’ll see a new ‘Barboza’ — a more seasoned Alexis with real confidence".
Nicolas goes into his third promotional appearance sitting on a perfect 24-0 record, but he'll face his toughest test yet when he meets a man determined to exact revenge and take his 26 pounds of kickboxing gold.
Regian Eersel crafting new game plan for rematch with Alexis Nicolas
After seeing his eight-year unbeaten streak snapped by Alexis Nicolas, Regian Eersel is ready to start anew, and it all begins with one of the most anticipated kickboxing rematches of 2024.
To give himself the best possible chance of leaving The Mecca of Muay Thai with the ONE lightweight kickboxing crown wrapped around his waist, 'The Immortal' has crafted a brand new game plan that will drastically differ from the approach he took in their inaugural meeting.
Speaking to MMA UK, Eersel said:
"The strategy for this rematch is going to be way different than the strategy when I fought (Alexis) the first time. My training schedule stays the same, but the way I train, the details are different."
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live via Amazon Prime Video in the United States and Canada on Friday, Oct. 4 in U.S. primetime.
