Ali Abdelaziz goes to bat for Justin Gaethje after Conor McGregor's recent slander
In the latest of Conor McGregor's Twitter transgressions, the Irishman lashed out at Justin Gaethje for suggesting that he'd quit if McGregor was to get a title shot off a win in his next fight.
In a now-deleted tweet, 'The Notorious' called Gaethje a "braindead fool" while pointing out the hypocrisy in 'The Highlight's' statement:
"This braindead fool got a title shot off of one win and it was vs. Chandler. Yet he will quit and retire if I get the same thing. Classic Gaethje bird brain."
The insult, however, hasn't gone unnoticed, and Gaethje's manager Ali Abdelaziz responded in kind to the trash-talking Irishman on Twitter.
The Dominance MMA CEO warned 'The Notorious' to lay off his fighter, stating that McGregor's next fight is against someone whom Gaethje has already beaten:
"@TheNotoriousMMA it’s a reason you’re fighting the guy @Justin_Gaethje smash[ed] because you cannot compete with the elite shut your mouth don’t ever talk again about Justin"
After being away from active competition following his July 2021 leg break, the former two-division champion is expected to make his highly awaited UFC return later this year in a fight against former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler.
Gaethje already holds a unanimous decision win against 'Iron' from their high-octane 2021 clash at UFC 268. 'The Highlight' is currently the No.3-ranked lightweight contender while McGregor is now unranked following his hiatus from the sport.
Conor McGregor on Justin Gaethje: When the Irishman called 'The Highlight' a "handicap"
Conor McGregor has been on Justin Gaethje's case for a while now. Earlier this week, 'The Notorious' took a swipe at 'The Highlight' with an ableist joke. In a now-deleted tweet, the Irishman stated that Gaethje is handicapped.
Gaethje, however, kept composure while addressing Conor McGregor's latest dig. During an interview with TMZ Sports, the former interim lightweight champion said:
"I don't have a reaction to that. You know, one of my best approaches to life is to make everybody think you're stupid, and go into a conversation or situation and take advantage of them feeling like that. So, I think it plays perfectly into my hands. I love when people think that I'm handicapped or dumb, you know?"
