Aljamain Sterling answers if Henry Cejudo would ever cut weight to move down to the flyweight division

Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling spoke to famous MMA journalist Helen Yee ahead of his bout with Movsar Evloev at UFC 307 next month. Evloev will be the second man 'Funk Master' will fight since moving up to featherweight this year.

Speaking of moving weight classes, Yee mentioned a man Sterling previously beat, former two-division UFC champ Henry Cejudo, who has expressed interest in moving back down to flyweight (125 pounds). 'Triple C' made a name for himself early in his MMA career at flyweight, defeating the consensus flyweight GOAT Demetrious Johnson for the belt in 2018.

On Cejudo's possible return to flyweight, Sterling said:

"That's a tough one. I just don't know if Henry has the discipline to get back down to 125. It's not easy. He's older. He's older than me. I'm 35, and the thought of me cutting back down to 135 when I see these guys, I'm just like, look at the scale and I'm just, yeah, I don't even know how I did that for this long but I toughed it out mentally. But If you tell me I had to do it again, I'm probably just not gonna do it. "

He added:

"So, looking at Henry, if he could do it I think it would be great for the division but I just don't know what he's gonna look like at this age. Flyweights are fast."

On what Dvalishvili should do to beat O'Malley, Sterling said (7:25):

"We know the path of least resistance is gonna be test his [O'Malley's] grappling. Test his cardio and if O'Mally's gonna try to make a boring fight by just sitting on the outside the whole time, I tell [Dvalishvili]: 'Don't be like me. I had the gameplan and I rushed it. Mentally just wasn't focused the way I should have been. Normally I stick to the gameplan. It's like don't make the same mistake I did and get over-anxious and give him what he wants. Let him come to you and you slowly chip away. And I guarantee you good things are gonna happen.'"

Noche UFC 306 happens inside the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, September 14.
