Aljamain Sterling claims past wars could play huge factor in Rob Font vs. Adrian Yanez clash

As news broke announcing Rob Font's return to the octagon in a 135lb clash against Adrian Yanez, UFC bantamweight king Aljamain Sterling has given his prediction for how he expects the fan-favorite matchup to play out.

The 29-year-old prospect is fresh off of a TKO victory against Tony Kelley in which he earned a performance of the night bonus from the UFC. Currently riding a nine-fight win streak, the promising talent is looking to force his way into the top 10 of the division when he competes against the #6-ranked bantamweight next time out.

While reacting to the fight news, Aljamain Sterling insisted that he expects this to be a great affair. However, he believes Rob Font's recent wars in the octagon will catch up to him and the durability will be in favor of Adrian Yanez:

"That's a great freaking fight... Mostly boxing from both guys. Adrian Yanez tends to paw and then snipe, whereas Rob Font mostly likes to stick hard jabs, one-twos down the middle, he'll try to find an uppercut from time to time, he'll throw those big looping hooks... Imagine when Rob Font connects, that's why he rocks guys the way he does, but he has to connect... This is gonna come down to durability and I think Yanez has shown to be more durable of late. Rob Font has gone through those wars with those other guys, but he has taken some beatings in those fights, man."

Aljamain Sterling believes Yanez will walk away with a huge victory over a significant name in the division when the two meet on April 8th.

Why is Aljamain Sterling betting against Rob Font?

Despite being out for almost an entire year and arguably having enough recovery time when his fight comes around, Rob Font isn't the favorite in Aljamain Sterling's eyes.

The Bostonian's four-fight win streak came to an end when he suffered a beatdown at the hands of Jose Aldo back in December 2021. However, the five-round grueling war didn't stop the 35-year-old from getting back into the cage four months later.

This time, he met Marlon Vera, and while he looked solid during portions of the fight, hitting the Ecuadorian with a volume of strikes, he was knocked down an incredible three times and had his face butchered in the process.
