Aljamain Sterling discusses "glass half-full" approach to prelims placement for Movsar Evloev fight: "I am a main card fighter"

Aljamain Sterling recently opened up about his upcoming bout against Movsar Evloev being placed on the prelims portion of UFC 310. The former bantamweight champion noted that he will use that as an opportunity to showcase how exciting he can be.

'Funk Master' is looking to insert himself in the title picture at 145 pounds and can do so should he hand the Russian his first career loss in impressive fashion. He is coming into the fight following his dominant unanimous decision win over Calvin Kattar at UFC 300 this past April. So, his path to becoming the latest two-division champion is on the right track.

Despite the high stakes, the promotion made a surprising move by featuring it on the prelims. Meanwhile, the featherweight clash between Kron Gracie and No.13 ranked Bryce Mitchell is slotted in as the second main card bout.

In a video recently uploaded to his YouTube channel, Sterling mentioned that he isn't devoting too much time to negatives and is focusing on the positives to prove the UFC wrong:

"I didn't know if I should have been insulted by the placement on the fight card or glass half-full. I guess that's the best way I try to look everything in life...I was a little confused by it of course...It's up to me to prove these guys wrong that, 'Hey, we are and I am a main card fighter'. I think people are going to be in for a very big surprise and the UFC is gonna realize, 'We messed up big time by not putting this on the main card'." [4:40]

Aljamain Sterling shares prediction for Movsar Evloev fight

In addition to discussing his approach to his fight against Movsar Evloev being placed on the prelims of UFC 310, Aljamain Sterling predicted what will transpire during their bout.

During the aforementioned video, Sterling mentioned that he intends to hand Evloev his first career loss and showcase the gap between their respective skillsets:

"I'm no stranger to fighting undefeated fighters.... I know a lot of people from his region of the world think he's got my number, think it's going to be his first finish. That alone is my motivation enough to prove them and to smash [Evloev], absolutely smash this guy and show that there are levels to this." [6:09]
