Aljamain Sterling undergoes stem cell therapy in preparation for Henry Cejudo showdown
Aljamain Sterling provided an update on his health status as he prepares for his upcoming UFC bantamweight title defense against Henry Cejudo.
Sterling uploaded a video to his YouTube channel, where he is documenting his stem cell treatment in Medellin, Colombia. The reigning bantamweight champion shared his experiences on his first day and described what the procedure was.
He said:
"We're at BioXcellerator. We just took my bloodwork, got my height, my weight, we did a consultation with the doctors. They gave us the rundown of the entire procedures that we're gonna go through, all the protocol things. Got the IV drip full of vitamins...Everything was good, super cool, super straightforward." 'Funkmaster' also showed his hyperbaric chamber treatment and explained what the procedure does and its benefits. Prior to entering the hyperbaric chamber, he was thankful to be receiving the treatments at BioXcellerator and took a moment to express his gratitude, saying:
"Okay, guys, I'm gonna come out [the hyperbaric chamber] a brand new man...Just wanna thank my parents, my sister, my fiance, BioXcellerator. Without you guys I wouldn't be here today. Thank you UFC. Thank you Dana White, Hunter Campbell, coaches, and fans." [4:40 - 4:58]
Sterling is hopeful that the stem cell treatment he receives at BioXcellerator will help heal his torn bicep without requiring surgery, so he can defend his title against Cejudo sooner. BioXcellerator has gained a great reputation for their track record of positive results with the likes of UFC Hall of Famers Matt Hughes and Ken Shamrock.

Aljamain Sterling vs. Henry Cejudo being targeted for May
With Alajamain Sterling receiving his stem cell treatment at BioXcellerator in Medellin, Colombia, there seems to be a timeline for when he will be ready to compete again.
According to The Schmo, the bantamweight title fight between 'Funkmaster' and the returning Henry Cejudo is being targeted for May. UFC 288 is scheduled to take place on May 6, so that could be realistic.
A lightweight clash between Beneil Dariush and former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is reportedly set to take place at the event, so the bantamweight title fight could serve as the main event. If the promotion adds a second title fight, UFC 288 could have a stacked main card.
