Aljamain Sterling issues statement after UFC 310 defeat, shares video of backstage interaction with Movsar Evloev

Aljamain Sterling has released a post-fight statement following his loss to Movsar Evloev at UFC 310. Sterling expressed his admiration for Evloev while sharing a clip of his backstage conversation with the Russian. In addition, the former bantamweight champion vowed to come back stronger.

Sterling took on Evloev in a featherweight bout in the preliminary card of UFC 310, which is currently taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two were originally set to square off inside the octagon at UFC 307, but the 35-year-old had to pull out of the bout due to an injury he sustained while training.

Both fighters successfully used takedowns and ground control during their contest. Sterling, with his explosive takedowns and unique style of grappling, provided Evloev with a difficult task.

However, after three rounds of intense grappling action, Evloev was declared the winner via a unanimous decision. The judges scored the contest (29-28 x3) in favor of the Russian fighter.

Following his loss, Sterling took to X and asserted that the bout was thrilling and gave Evloev credit for his efforts. Furthermore, 'Funk Master' pledged to make a stronger comeback, writing:

''Tough fight…I thought I might’ve edged it out against a tough opponent, but we came up short. Thank you all for the love and support and I hope the performance was a fun one for you all to watch. Movsar is a beast, I showed where I belong in this division. For now, we decompress and heal up, then get ready to climb the ladder again. The dream doesn’t stop unless you give up! I’ll be back!''

In another X post, Sterling responded to a fan, emphasizing the importance of reflecting on his performance.

''Appreciate all you guys man. I really do. I need to go watch that 3rd round. That was the deciding round and I thought I did slightly more early in the RD but I have to see the last 1.5 minutes to really know if it was the right call or not. Nonetheless, it was a good scrap''
