Aljamain Sterling reacts to Donald Trump's "they're eating the pets" claims, seemingly draws #MeToo movement comparison
Aljamain Sterling recently responded to Donald Trump's controversial claim that immigrants in the United States are allegedly eating the pets of American citizens. A heated discussion has sparked since Trump leveled these accusations earlier this week.
The controversy began when several residents of Springfield, Ohio, made shocking allegations that their pets had been stolen and ultimately consumed by immigrants in the area. These assertions eventually surfaced during the 2024 U.S. presidential debates, where Trump used them as a narrative against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. He said:
"In Springfield, they are eating the dogs. The people that came in, they are eating the cats… They are eating the pets of people that live there."

During a recent interview with an MMA journalist, Sterling weighed in on the allegations against immigrants. The former UFC bantamweight champion stated that it’s not by chance that so many people are coming forward with these claims. He then compared the situation to the #MeToo movement:
"The whole thing with the [presidential] debate, like people saying you didn't see them eat the cats, I'm like yeah, but if 100-plus people are coming out and saying that, then are all these people lying? I don't know, like that's just a crazy coincidence for everyone to—it's almost like the #MeToo thing. Everyone now has a story of what happened in their own account."

Aljamain Sterling defends his stance amid backlash on his #MeToo comparison
Aljamain Sterling’s comments quickly sparked reactions from fans on X, with one critic singling out 'Funk Master'. The fan argued that Sterling's comparison between claims of immigrants allegedly eating pets and the #MeToo movement is completely unrelated.
In his response, Sterling voiced frustration over how his comments were perceived. The 35-year-old New Yorker clarified that he recognized both possibilities: the claims might be fabricated, but also that in movements such as #MeToo, some individuals have made baseless allegations with ulterior motives, making it challenging to separate fact from fiction.
