"Have $175,000 in my bank savings" - Aljamain Sterling shares tear-jerking throwback to his 2019 bucket list

Being financially secure is very important in every occupation and recently, Aljamain Sterling shared that he achieved just that.

Sterling posted a picture on his Instagram that showed a list of goals he had from 2019. One of the goals he wanted to achieve was to have $175,000 in his bank savings and after three-years, he can check that off his list. The 'Funk Master' reflected on his journey since 2019 and that the list made him emotional:

“Found this gem stashed on the dresser last night as I was packing for my flight to LA today. Seeing this got me choked up to see where I was to where I am today. This journey hasn’t been easy and I’ve given up a lot of precious moments to chase a dream that none of us athletes are ever 100% sure will happen. As I write this, I see that I crushed a lot of these goals and still have the hunger for more!”

In the same post, the UFC bantamweight champion also added a piece of advice to stay committed to the journey as success doesn’t happen overnight:

“I hope to inspire someone when I say this. But there’s really no shortcut to your dreams and it rarely happens overnight. Be a student of the game, work smart, know when to work hard, never be afraid to ask questions or get a mentor, and always remember that we can be better than yesterday.”

Aljamain Sterling is coming off a successful title defense against former bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw. There is plenty of speculation as to who will challenge him for the title next, as well as when he will return to the octagon.

'Funk Master' has stated that he intends to return in June, however, it’s been reported that the UFC would like him to defend his title against Henry Cejudo at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia.

Cejudo would be a logical opponent, especially considering that he never lost the title, and was a two-division UFC champion prior to announcing his retirement in 2020.

Other bantamweights that have made a strong case for the next title shot include Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera and ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley. With both fighters coming off wins against former bantamweight champions, the matchmakers will have to decide who the challenger will be and when the bout will take place.
