"All the kilos go to my legs and a**"- Alexander Volkanovski describes his weight gain status for going up against Islam Makhachev at 155 lbs
Alexander Volkanovski is currently the P4P best in the UFC. The Australian is one of the most dominant fighters the division has seen and is currently looking to take his skills to the lightweight division. The featherweight king has made his intentions to go up in weight and challenge for the belt known. He looks to do what only a handful of people have done before him and become 'champ-champ'.
Ahead of his highly-awaited UFC 284 matchup against Islam Makhachev, he shared a light-hearted moment with Michael Bisping on his podcast. The Brit asked him about his bulking plans, and 'The Great' responded by saying:
"We are bulking, we're trying to do it correctly. Not only put on the weight (but) put the right weight on...It's funny, like I swear all the kilos that I've put on have just gone to my legs and my a**e."
Michael Bisping retorted saying:
"That's the best place to have it though."
The two then had a laugh at the expense of Bisping's son, who has the same problem. Alexander Volkanovski is back to training after undergoing surgery on his thumb that kept him out for months. In his first fight back he looks to etch his name in the history books alongside the likes of Conor McGregor, Amanda Nunes, Henry Cejudo, and Daniel Cormier.

Alexander Volkanovski explains why 2023 will be a bigger year for him than 2022
Alexander Volkanovski ends the year 2022 as the P4P best in the division and as the undisputed featherweight champion. However, he believes 2023 will be even bigger for him as he prepares to take on bigger challenges and move up a weight class to cement his name in the UFC history books. In the second episode of his YouTube series titled Double Champ Camp, he says:
"Twenty-twenty-two was massive, but twenty-twenty-three is gonna be my year next year's gonna be my year. Rolling into twenty-twenty-three with the biggest fight of my life, going for champ champ against Islam Makhachev. This is the year people remember my legacy."
Volkanovski has not fought since July this year and has been away from the Octagon for over 6 months. His opponent, on the other hand, recently submitted Charles Oliveira to become the new lightweight champion. This fight promises to be an intense match with the highest levels of grappling the UFC has to offer.
