“All those things stuck with me” - Jackie Buntan says love for hip-hop music perfectly blends with her explosive striking

Jackie Buntan's love for hip-hop music comes from her older sisters who had an undeniable influence over her taste in music.

Luckily, it's a genre of music that just so happens to match her heavy-hitting style inside the Circle perfectly.

Emanating from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, ONE Championship will present ONE 169 on Friday, Nov. 8—a loaded fight card that will feature three massive ONE world title tilts, including a highly anticipated scrap between Buntan and Anissa Meksen for the ONE women's strawweight kickboxing crown.

Speaking with Sportskeeda MMA ahead of their showdown inside the Mecca of Muay Thai, Buntan offered some insight into her musical taste and how it was influenced by her older siblings:

"I think I’m the youngest of three older sisters, and when you’re the youngest and all girls, you kinda wanna get into the things they’re into. My older sisters and I when we were younger were super into RnB, hip-hop, and all that stuff.
"All those things stuck with me and resonated with me when I turned into an adult and definitely influenced my music taste."

Jackie Buntan knows she's earned her shot at ONE gold, now it's all about cashing in on the opportunity

Jackie Buntan earned her opportunity at ONE 169 after amassing an impressive 6-1 record inside the Circle—her lone loss coming against former ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion Smilla Sundell.

Since her defeat, the Boxing Works product strung together three straight wins against Amber Kitchen, Diandra Martin, and most recently, Martine Michieletto.

Believing she has more than earned her spot to compete for a ONE world champion, the Boxing Works product is ready to make the most of the opportunity and bring 26 pounds of gold back to the United States. She added:

"I’ve always been so focused on perfecting my craft and making it better,. Even if I win a fight, I still wanna get better. So I know I’ve earned this spot and I’m worthy of standing in there with her."

Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 169: Malykhin vs. ‘Reug Reug’ live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Nov. 8 in U.S. primetime.
