“Almost war ready” - British icon Liam Harrison getting closer to peak form ahead of Denver super fight against Seksan
Less than a month before his return, Liam Harrison is getting closer to his best possible form.
The British Muay Thai icon will face Thailand's Seksan in an all-legends clash at ONE 168: Denver on September 6 at Ball Arena.
Harrison has been on a two-year injury layoff and will face Seksan in a catchweight 140-pound Muay Thai fight, a match he's been clamoring from ONE Championship during his recovery.
Taking to Instagram, Harrison showed clips of his training camp while working with former ONE Championship fighter and multi-time world champion Andy Howson and coach John Gillies.
"Finishing the week strong, been a solid week. Almost war ready."
Harrison is arguably the best Muay Thai fighter from England, and his stacked resume puts tremendous weight on his claim.
'Hitman' has 90 wins in his decades-long career which saw him claim eight world titles across multiple organizations.
Liam Harrison's last fight in ONE Championship saw him take a shot at then-world champion Nong-O Hama for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title at ONE on Prime Video 1.
That world title challenge, however, ended in disaster when the Thai legend's constant leg kicks shattered Harrison's left knee to pieces.
Harrison has since undergone surgery and stem cell treatment to repair the damaged knee.
Tickets for ONE 168 are available at Ticketmaster.
Liam Harrison admits defying doctor's advice ahead of his highly anticipated match against Seksan
Liam Harrison was always one to dictate his fate, and that included defying his doctor's medical advice.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Harrison revealed that his doctor advised him to hang up the gloves and enjoy his legacy.
Harrison, however, wasn't having any of that and was hellbent on putting on a show with Seksan in Denver.
"ACL tear, MCL tear, basically everything that can go wrong in your knee went wrong. The surgeon said, 'You're not gonna be able to come back as strong as you are, you're older now, you've got a great career, I think you should retire.'"
Harrison added:
"Yeah, f*** you. I'm not taking orders from anyone. I'm going out on my own terms. I'm just as fast, if not faster. Just as sharp, if not sharper. And I'm gonna prove that I'm just as ferocious or if not more than I was before."
