“Always a level above his opponent” - Danial Williams on why he’s ‘always impressed’ by Rodtang’s matches in ONE
Danial Williams can't help but be impressed by Rodtang's skills inside the Circle.
Aside from being the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, Rodtang is considered by many to be one of the most dangerous strikers in the art of eight limbs, earning wins over the likes of Jonathan Haggerty, Walter Goncalves, Jacob Smith, and Joseph Lasiri.
Offering his take on Rodtang's impressive run in ONE, Williams told Sportskeeda MMA:
"Yeah, I'm always impressed by Rodtang’s wins because he’s very resilient and he’s always a level above his opponent."
'Mini T' knows a thing or two about what it's like to face 'The Iron Man' on martial arts' biggest global stage, going toe-to-toe with Rodtang at ONE on TNT 1 in April 2021. Williams came up short in his promotional debut but can take some solace in the fact that he took Rodtang to the limit that night.
'The Iron Man' will be back in action next month as he puts his ONE flyweight Muay Thai title on the line at ONE 169.
Rodtang puts his title on the line against Jacob Smith at ONE 169
Returning to the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, November 8, Rodtang will successfully defend his title for a seventh time when he runs back his ONE 157 clash against third-ranked contender Jacob Smith.
Rodtanga and Smith previously in May 2022 when the Brit made his ONE Championship. On that night, 'The Iron Man' battered Smith with a barrage of brutal elbow strikes, bloodying his opponent in the process. Since then, Smith has earned a highlight-reek knockout against Walter Goncalves and went toe-to-toe with 'The Bosnian Menace' Denis Puric in his last outing.
With more than two years to improve and gain experience, Smith believes he will fare much better against 'The Iron Man' the second time around.
"I'm a lot more well-rounded. So, he'll feel a lot more of my power this time 'cause I'm going to be in better positions now," Smith told Sportskeeda MMA. "I understand how good he is now. So my calculations are gonna be different too now."
Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 169 live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, November 8 in U.S. primetime.
