Sean O'Malley reacts to Paddy Pimblett and Dana White's tirade against Ariel Helwani
Earlier this week, Paddy Pimblett welcomed Dana White onto the latest episode of his Chattin' Pony podcast. The pair were discussing the upcoming UFC 282 card before MMA journalist Ariel Helwani was mentioned.
'The Baddy' controversially stated that he hated journalists like Helwani because he believes they only see fighters as a revenue source rather than having journalistic integrity. The UFC president agreed with the 27-year-old, citing his own bad blood with the Canadian reporter.
Sean O'Malley, who has been featured on Helwani's The MMA Show countless times, came to his defense. According to 'Sugar', Ariel Helwani loves the sport and respects the fact that he's been able to make money by doing something he loves:
"I literally seen a clip where Paddy was talking to Dana, saying it pi**es him off that journalists—specifically Ariel—go out there and try to make money off our names, which drives me fu**ing crazy. Ariel is passionate about fighting, more passionate than anyone I've ever met. Loves the sport. And he found a way to make money doing what he loves, how can you hate on that? I found a way to make money doing what I love, fighting. People find their passion [and] they find ways to make money about it... I can't even wrap my head around where that's coming from."
