Andrew Cain loss: Who has the Merseyside pugilist lost to? Find out all about the only man to ever defeat the British boxing champion

Andrew Cain is set to take on Lazaro Casseres on Oct. 5 as part of the undercard for Nick Ball's maiden WBA title defense against Ronny Rios in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

The Merseyside pugilist is keen to fight alongside his longtime friend and training partner at the famous Echo Arena. This fight will mark his third outing in 2024 with the vacant WBC International silver bantamweight title on the line.

Cain's lone professional loss came in March 2023 against Ionut Baluta at Telford International Centre. The fight transpired as an entertaining back-and-forth affair with several fans proclaiming it a worthy contender for Fight of the Year.

In that fight, Cain dropped Baluta twice in the opening round but was ultimately defeated via split decision after getting knocked down himself in the ninth round. According to some fans, Cain had done enough to get his hand raised and the result of the fight could've gone either way.

Since that loss, Cain has been on a mission to revitalize his career, securing victories in all subsequent bouts. He has rattled off knockout victories against Darwing Martinez and Ashley Lane since the loss to Baluta.

Now, with his upcoming fight in Liverpool, Cain looks to continue his solid form and secure a spectacular win in front of his home crowd. The last time he fought in Liverpool, he secured a TKO victory over Rafael Castillo in February 2020.

Andrew Cain is confident that he will become a world champion

Andrew Cain had the defining moment of his career on July 20, dismantling Ashley Lane via TKO in the fifth round and securing the British and Commonwealth bantamweight titles.

Cain is gearing up to take on Lazaro Casseres on Oct. 5, sharing the card with fellow Merseyside boxer Nick Ball. Reflecting on his win over Lane in a past interview with BoxingScene, he said:

"I was just enjoying it. I feel like I could have got him out of there a lot earlier, but I didn’t want it to end." [H/t: Boxing Scene]

He also added that he's confident in his skills and always knew he would become a champion someday:

“I know I’m capable of being a world champion. I’ve always believed that since I was a kid I’m a world-class fighter and I can beat anyone.”
