Andrew Schulz and 50 Cent dive into boxing’s "soap opera" with rumors of Floyd Mayweather Sr. training Oscar De La Hoya for a fight with his son

Andrew Schulz and 50 Cent looked back at the controversial feud between Floyd Mayweather Jr., Oscar De La Hoya, and Floyd Mayweather Sr.

In May 2007, De La Hoya challenged Mayweather Jr. for the WBC super welterweight world title. The legendary boxers established an intense rivalry that featured an unexpected presence from Mayweather Sr.

At the time, Mayweather Jr. and his father weren't on good terms for several reasons. As a result, Mayweather Sr. decided to help De La Hoya attempt to hand his son his first professional boxing loss.

Earlier this week, Schulz hosted 50 Cent on his episode, Flagrant, where they had a conversation about Mayweather Sr. betraying his son by working with De La Hoya.

50 Cent said:

"A lot of times with the dads, when the dads make the best babysitters, they're living vicariously through the kids. They take the kid to the gym, they go to the gym, and they building their own champion. That's why him and Floyd Sr. used to get into because they are so much alike."

Schulz responded by saying:

"That soap opera of boxing when like [Mayweather] Sr. coached [Oscar] De La Hoya. I don't even think people could wrap their heads around what we saw. Floyd Mayweather Sr. was the coach of De La Hoya when De La Hoya fought Floyd. Could you imagine what's happening."

50 Cent added:

"Little Floyd turned into Floyd Sr. at that point, and he didn't need any validation or any acceptance from him. He just wanted, go do whatever you wanted to do [with De La Hoya], and you can't help him beat me because I'm better".
