Anissa Meksen says sheer focus remains with Jackie Buntan after double booking vs Kana: “I would see what happens”

Anissa Meksen may be double booked, but her focus is on the task at hand—that being a ONE world title showdown with American star Jackie Buntan.

On Friday, November 8, the seven-time titleholder with square off with Buntan in one of three ONE world title fights at ONE 169 inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The winner will emerge as the inaugural ONE strawweight kickboxing queen.

In addition to her clash with Buntan, Anissa Meksen also has a high-stakes showdown with K-1 star and multi-time world champion Kana Morimoto, who will be making her promotional debut at ONE Friday Fights 92 on December 20.

Speaking with the South China Morning Post, 'C18' remained adamant that despite having a big fight with Kana already lined up, she's by no means looking past her meeting with the heavy-hitting Jackie Buntan inside the Mecca of Muay Thai.

"I don’t know. For me, I’m focused on this fight and I have another fight in December and after that, I would see what happens," Meksen said.

Kana Morimoto aims to kick off her ONE run with an impressive showing against Anissa Meksen

After signing with ONE Championship earlier this year, fight fans have chomping at the bit to see Kana Morimoto step inside the Circle for the very first time. Fortunately, we won't have to wait that long as the former K-1 and Krush flyweight champion will square off with Meksen less than a week before Christmas.

Named Beyond Kickboxing's Female Fighter of the Year, Kana has dominated the competition everywhere she's gone so far. With 22 wins and a 50% finish rate, Matsusaka, Mie, Japan native holds the record for the most successful title defenses in Krush and is tied for second under the K-1 banner.

If Kana can score a big win over 103-win veteran Anissa Meksen in her promotional premiere, she may very well find herself in pole position for a shot at Phetjeeja's ONE atomweight kickboxing world title.

ONE Friday Fights 92 will air live from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, December 20.
