Anthony Smith reveals how he might "get in trouble" for accidentally walking through airport security with a loaded gun in his backpack: "I wanted to curl up in a little ball and die"
UFC light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith recently encountered trouble at the airport for carrying a firearm.
He narrated the story to Michael Bisping on their Believe You Me podcast. Smith spoke about forgetting that a firearm was in his backpack while on a trip to Kansas City. He did not remember to take the firearm out as he packed for his flight and got to the airport unawares.
'Lionheart' recalled:
"I go through TSA pre-check, wave goodbye to all the peasants in the regular line, I go to the front of the line, put my bag on the belt, slide that thing through and then all of a sudden it stopped. All the lines immediately stopped. And I start seeing all the TSA people start gathering around the screen. I absolutely succeeded and went through airport security with a loaded gun... And the guy goes, there's a firearm in this bag."
Smith continued as he described his embarrassment and the possible outcome of his actions:
"Michael Bisping, when I tell you, I wanted to curl up in a little ball and die. I was mortified when I realized, 'Oh my God, that's my bag!' I'm terrified. And the lady says, 'I take it that's your backpack?' ... I told her the same story that I told you. Turns out she was so cool about it, I still got into trouble but she was at least nice about it. So TSA's gonna be reaching out and I'm gonna get in trouble. I'm gonna get a fat fine and I'm gonna lose my pre-check for sure."

Anthony Smith responds to Nikita Krylov's callout after UFC 280
Fellow light heavyweight contender Nikita Krylov called out Anthony Smith after his win at UFC 280. Krylov comfortably defeated Volkan Oezdemir on the preliminary card and called out the one-time title challenger during the post-fight press conference.
Anthony Smith, who was on ESPN's panel during the event, reacted live to the callout, saying:
“Scared? I have a lot of respect for Nikita Krylov. I said several times before that he’s kind of the dark horse in the division. He put [Alexander Gustafsson’s] lights out fast. Like, nobody gets rid of Gustafsson like that. I fought him and it took me four rounds to get him out of there. I’ve got a lot of respect for that guy. The answer is and always is to everybody in the division — yes. I’m totally down. Maybe March? I’m in.”
