"Are you people insane?!” - Gordon Ryan targets Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and John Cena in fresh rant about steroids
Gordon Ryan, the most famous athlete in submission grappling, has recently been in the limelight for his use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). With a lack of regular drug testing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the sport is rife with athletes who use steroids.
'The King' has been accused of taking PEDs for years, which he remained coy about until recently when he shared a lengthy statement explaining his reasons for using steroids during competition.
Check out a snippet of Ryan's statement below:
In a series of recent Instagram stories, the 28-year-old took aim at both Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and John Cena for their statements regarding the use of PEDs.
Johnson stated that he had tried steroids once in his late teens, whilst Cena claimed to have never used performance-enhancing drugs before, much to Ryan's frustration.
He wrote this about Cena:
"Yea bro, you're 6ft 1", 250 [pounds] with veins the size of garden hoses running from your pinky, up your arm, across your chest and down to your other pinky. Natually occuring."
He took aim at 'The Rock', writing this:
"Just me sitting naturally at age 52... Are you people insane?!"
Gordon Ryan fires back at Kron Gracie for criticism over PED usage
Fellow Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Kron Gracie recently criticized Gordon Ryan for the New Jersey native's use of performance-enhancing drugs. 'Ice Cream Kron' currently fights in the UFC, where stringent drug testing is employed by Drug-Free Sport.
But Gracie has long been proud of his status as a clean athlete, and his friendship with Nate and Nick Diaz, two fighters known for their anti-PED stance, supports that.
After criticizing 'The King' for his open use of steroids, the 28-year-old fired back at the MMA fighter, writing the following on Instagram:
"They say steroids are illegal in jj.. they're just not. Like, they're just... not lmao... +2 just isn't 5. It's just not. You can say you don't like them. You can say they're not right. You can say they should be illegal, but the FACT is that they're just simply... not. Also, you're gonna tell me the family hasn't used steroids in jj and mma for like the last 5+ decades? Places they were legal?"
