Ariel Helwani calls Paddy Pimblett's attempt to act like a victim of his greed "sad"
Ariel Helwani is firing back at Paddy Pimblett after the comments 'The Baddy' made during interviews both prior to and after his fight with Jared Gordon at UFC 282.
During today's episode of The MMA Hour, Hewani sounded off on Pimblett for the comments he made while speaking with CBS' Shakiel Mahjouri. He noted that he didn't like how the Englishman attempted to act like a victim during the situation, saying:
"I hate to say it, it's a little bit sad, it's disappointing. Why don't we just let this die? Because even the look on his face when he's talking about this stuff, he's trying to make it out to be I'm the one that started this, I'm the one that betrayed him, I'm the one that misinterpreted all that and I'm like, 'How much more can I show? How much more can I do?' So I saw that and I was like, 'Alright, we're gonna keep this going.'" (8:23 - 8:49)
The Canadian MMA journalist also took a shot at Pimblett for mentioning that he and his manager planned to address the matter following his fight. He mentioned that he looks forward to it and welcomed the idea of doing the same on his YouTube channel:
"I can't wait. What do we wanna go, screengrab for screengrab? What are we gonna do? What are you gonna address? You're gonna continue to make up stuff like I asked you to drop this...can't wait, I invite it. Let's do it. You do it on your channel, I'll do it on my channel, which I don't get paid extra for any views, which I think our views beat your views but who's counting."
It will be interesting to see how Paddy Pimblett and his manager address the situation, as Ariel Helwani has received a majority of support from both fans and fighters. He proved that he isn't shy about defending himself and could once again feel the need to respond should 'The Baddy' make claims that aren't factual.
Paddy Pimblett has no regrets about starting beef with Ariel Helwani
During his post-fight press conference at UFC 282, Paddy Pimblett mentioned that he has no regrets about how he handled the situation with Ariel Helwani and starting beef with the journalist.
When asked whether he regretted it after all the comments that followed, 'The Baddy' said that it didn't bother him:
"No, I don't give a f**k. I'm unapologetically meself, lad. I've had that bottled up for over a year where he talked sh**te. I've had all bots commenting on me page. I get on with it, lad, you know what I mean." (7:05 - 7:20)
Paddy Pimblett will continue to receive criticism the longer this beef continues with Helwani, especially considering the proof that The MMA Hour host has already presented to debunk his claims.
