Arman Tsarukyan claims former UFC title challenger Michael Chandler has the "lowest IQ in the lightweight division"
Arman Tsarukyan took to Twitter to take jibes at former UFC lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler.
Arman Tsarukyan, an Armenian-Russian mixed martial artist, took to Twitter to attack former UFC lightweight championship contender Michael Chandler's fight IQ, calling him the "lowest fight IQ fighter in the UFC lightweight division."
He wrote:
"Hey Michael Chandler it’s time to defend your rankings! Lowest fight IQ in the division against new mma generation.
Chandler is currently number five-ranked and is ahead of the 'Ahalkalakets' who is number eight-ranked in the promotion's most action-packed division. Tsarukyan, who is coming off a one-fight victory streak, feels the 'Iron' is causing the division's rankings to stagnate.
Tsarukyan reckons that the current new contenders in the lightweight category are clearly better than Michael Chandler. He also made fun of one of Chandler's most famous lines, saying:
"I won't see you at the top"
Top "Low IQ" moments of Michael Chandler
Chandler is without a doubt one of the most entertaining and incredible fighters to ever enter the octagon. However, in his past battles, he has made some poor judgments while competing in some of the most crucial matches of his career which cost him dearly.
One of his most egregious errors occurred when competing against fellow lightweight contender Justin Gaethje. He admitted that standing and engaging in a slugfest with the former interim lightweight champion was a bad choice.
Chandler made another misstep when he fought Dustin Poirier at UFC 281. The fight went well for Chandler until he opted to trade punches with Poirier, where he could use his NCAA wrestling proficiencies to take down Poirier and take the fight in his ground game. This was exploited by 'Diamond,' who ended up submitting Michael Chandler with a rear-naked choke midway through round three and snatched the victory away from him.
Whether Chandler is an average fighter is highly debatable, but one thing is certain: his fights are a treat to watch. Chandler seems to be a case of a wrestling falling in love with his hand speed and punching power, which can be to his benefit or his detriment.
