Atomweight grappling queen Danielle Kelly seeking two-division supremacy: "I would like to see 105 or maybe a 125 match"
ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion Danielle Kelly is eager to test herself in different weight classes after sorting out her latest assignment on the global stage of ONE Championship.
The Silver Fox BJJ athlete makes her hotly anticipated return against nine-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Mayssa Bastos at ONE Fight Night 24 this Friday, August 2.
Should she come out on top and secure her first world title defense over the Brazilian grappler, the 28-year-old would ideally like to see how she'd fare against fellow world-class ground game experts just around the 115-pound limit of the atomweight division.
"I mean I'm the atomweight champion. So I would like to compete at 105 cause that's kind of like what the smaller girls weigh. But I don't know what that would be called for this, but 125 might be a little too big for me, but I would love to give it a try, just to get more matches in," Danielle Kelly told Sportskeeda MMA's Nic Atkin in a pre-fight interview.
"But yeah, I'd stick around at 115. But yeah, I would like to see 105 or maybe a 125 match."

Danielle Kelly cannot afford to look past Mayssa Bastos
Before any talk of a move upwards or downwards, the Philadelphia native must put her full focus on Mayssa Bastos, arguably the toughest test of her career.
The 26-year-old Brazilian is one of the most decorated grapplers in the history of the sport, and she's fired up to go all out to add another prestigious prize to her list of accolades.
Their ONE atomweight submission grappling world title tilt will be one of two world championship bouts at the top of the loaded ONE Fight Night 24 card.
