Aung La N Sang says he’s ‘gonna have fun’ against Shamil Erdogan at ONE 168: Denver
Former two-division ONE world champion Aung La N Sang expects a full-blown war against the undefeated Shamil Erdogan this Friday night.
Returning to the Circle for the first time in well over a year, 'The Burmese Python' will look to land his fourth-straight win when he meets Erdogan in a catchweight bout at ONE 168: Denver on September 6.
Speaking with Nick Atkin 24 hours before making the walk in The Mile High City, Aung La N Sang knows that his fight against the 9-0 Erdogan will be tough, but it'll also be one fight that fans won't want to miss.
"I expect nothing less [but a war]. Tough opponent. It's gonna be a tough fight. We’re gonna have fun."
The Myanmar superstar enters ONE 168: Denver, having finished his last three opponents inside the distance, including back-to-back KOs against Yushin Okami and Gilberto Galvao, and a second-round submission over Fan Rong.
Aung La N Sang is focusing on the task at hand
Having won three straight and four out of his last five, another impressive showing from Aung La N Sang in The Centennial State could put him on the cusp of a ONE middleweight world title opportunity.
Of course, Aung La isn't trying to think about that right now. Instead, he's choosing to focus only on the task at hand as he prepares to face a fighter who has never known defeat in his professional MMA career.
Aung La told The All Star:
"Planning for too far in the future is never constructed for me as for my fight career, you know. Whenever I think too far into it, something else goes wrong. And I don't like to do that anymore. I like to stay present in the moment right now."
Who comes out on top when two of the middleweight division's most exciting scrappers square off on martial arts' biggest global stage?
ONE 168: Denver will air live on Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime in both the United States and Canada on Friday, September 6. Follow this link for tickets to attend the event live at Ball Arena.
