Aung La N Sang says putting full focus on training preps him for the worst in a fight: “You want to be humbled during training”
MMA veteran Aung La N Sang doesn't believe in taking it easy.
Whether he's in the gym or the Circle, 'The Burmese Python' goes hard, which probably explains why he's become one of ONE Championship's most beloved and respected athletes.
On Friday, September 6, the former two-division MMA world champion will return to martial arts' biggest global stage when ONE heads back to The Mile High City — Denver, Colorado — for a loaded ONE 168: Denver card.
There, Aung La will meet undefeated Turkish standing Shamil Erdogan in a fight that could present three-division MMA king Anatoly Malykhin with his first middleweight world title challenger.
Documenting his road to Denver via his YouTube channel, Aung La N Sang spoke about his ongoing tramp camp and the importance of going hard in the gym to ensure you're ready for anything that could possibly happen inside the Circle.
"You want to be humbled during training," he said. "You want to make sure you get comfortable with the hard work so when you get in the fight, it’s easy, and it’s nothing new."
Can Aung La N Sang continue his winning streak against undefeated Shamil Erdogan?
After losing three out of four, including back-to-back world title losses, Aung La N Sang has bounced back with three incredible finishes.
ONE 163 saw 'The Burmese Python' secure a first-round knockout over MMA legend Yushin 'Thunder' Okami before putting away Gilberto Galvao in 89 seconds.
Since then, he added a second-round submission over Fan Rong. But unlike those three opponents, Aung La N Sang faces a fighter at ONE 168 who has never known defeat.
Making his promotional debut at ONE Friday Fights 22 last year, Shamil Erdogan delivered his own noteworthy win over Fan Rong. Now, he's setting his sights on 'The Burmese Python' as he makes his way up the middleweight ladder.
Will Erdogan move to 10-0 in his mixed martial arts career, or will 'The Burmese Python' continue his career resurgence with another sensational finish?
