Aung La N Sang views Shamil Erdogan test in Denver as a do-or-die moment: “Nothing in my career that matters more”
Aung La N Sang dreams of once again holding the ONE middleweight MMA world championship. But for now, the only thing on his mind is his next opponent, Shamil Erdogan.
After impressively dispatching his last three opponents, 'The Burmese Python' will look to take the undefeated Turkish standout's 'O' when he returns to The Mile High City—Denver, Colorado—to take part in ONE Championship's loaded ONE 168 card inside Ball Arena.
Having already established himself as one of the greatest fighters in ONE Championship history—having held the ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world titles simultaneously—Aung La has nothing left to prove inside the Circle.
Still, that won't stop the Myanmar Superstar from striving to be the best fighter he can be until he hangs up his gloves for good.
"For me, my goal as a fighter is to be the best I can be. But right now, it’s one step at a time and I cannot afford to think past Shamil," he told The AllStar. "I need the win. There’s nothing in my career that matters more than Shamil now."
Aung La N Sang prides himself on being one of ONE Championship's most exciting fighters
After hitting a rough patch that saw him surrender his two world titles in back-to-back losses against Reinier de Ridder, Aung La N Sang has climbed back into the contender's circle with a solid string of finishes, including brutal knockouts of Yushin Okami and Gilbert Galvao a mere seven weeks apart.
Following that up with a sensational second-round submission victory over Fan Rong, 'The Burmese Python' has proven that even at 39 years old, he's still one of ONE Championship's most exciting fighters.
"We need some banger fights, you know," Aung La told Sportskeeda. "We need some exciting fights and that's all I bring, you know. I'm not going to say I'm the best at this and that, but I can guarantee you that every time I fight, I fight for the finish."
Will Aung La add another highlight-reel finish to his resume, or will Shamil Erdogan make it 10-0 and crush the former two-division champ's momentum in The Centennial State?
