Belal Muhammad claps back after Kamaru Usman questions the welterweight champ's relevance: "I beat the guy that beat you twice"
The online back and forth between reigning UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad and former titleholder Kamaru Usman continues.
In a recent episode of Usman's Pound 4 Pound podcast with fellow former UFC champion Henry Cejudo, 'The Nigerian Nightmare' said this of the current divisional kingpin:
"Who the f*ck is that guy? That's how I feel...I don't even remember his [Muhammad] name...If I want to take his belt, I'll come take his belt... I want the fight, brother. When you got him saying, 'I'm gonna sit down and let you guys fight and I'll fight the winner,' listen, that's not the recipe for you to make money...At some point, he's gonna have to step in there with me and we're gonna settle it."
Here's a compilation post of the conversation, as posted by ESPN MMA:
Belal Muhammad clapped back in the comments section, writing:
"I’m the guy with gold you remember .,, I beat the guy that beat you twice .. remember and Why are u both shirtless"
Muhammad's talking about Leon Edwards, whom he beat for the title at UFC 304 this past July. Edwards went on a trilogy of fights with Kamaru Usman in 2015, 2022, and 2023, winning two out of three battles.
More on the Belal Muhammad vs. Kamaru Usman online beef
The beef between Muhammad and Usman started getting heated when the former won the title in the summer. Both men faced and beat Leon Edwards and are on a verbal contest regarding who the better fighter is.
At some point, Usman wore his mean guy hat and tweeted this:
"Alright, enough of the nice guy... you were never chasing me. You were barely in the rankings when I dominated the division. FYI I have a win over Leon [Edwards] son."
Belal Muhammad, annointed the king of clapbacks by some, replied with:
"Dominated the division? [You] beat [Jorge] Masvidal twice and went to cardio kickboxing with Colby [Covington] twice (Colby sucks). [You] were protected by the UFC... Now you can barely walk. Your podcast sucks. And your part in Black Panther sucked."
